Life is not a competition. You don’t always have to win. The beauty of communication is the ability to share ideas and deepen each other’s understanding. There will always be someone who disagrees with you. As the well-known Dita Von Teese quote states: ‘you can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, and there’s still going to be somebody who hates peaches.’
I admire people who are able to uplift and encourage each other’s achievements without judgement or jealousy. I used to compare myself to everyone else, trying to do better than them. But it only made me even more dissatisfied with myself. It turned me into a controlling, manipulative and hateful person. None of which helped me progress in life at all.
We all have been so brainwashed by culture and society that we have forgotten our relationship with the rest of the world. Everyone is so concerned with putting labels on people when in reality we are all one. The entire world is inter-connected, and that includes each and every single one of us. So while we may have opposing beliefs, there is no point in arguing over it to the point of relationships breaking down. It’s tiring.
I have my own set of beliefs that the people around me may not share, but I don’t force it on them. I am open to new ideas. I don’t believe in labelling everything. You are more than your identity. Find your own truth and run with it. Spread love. The energy that you give out is what you receive in return.
